The opinions are divided on this. In principle, it should be possible to switch between drugs if the amount of 'active ingredient' remains the same. But in practice, people with parkinsonism sometimes notice the difference in the effectiveness; this can be explained by the way in which the active ingredient is incorporated into the tablet or capsule. It is therefore important to always discuss the transition to another brand of medicine with the neurologist.
