The Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and the University’s Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB/UL) are jointly responsible for the collection, analysis, and processing of your personal data and ensure their protection according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As part of this research project, personal data from a questionnaire and biological samples will be collected. All samples will be stored in the LIH's biobank, the Integrated Biobank of Luxembourg (IBBL), for research purposes.
All data are pseudonymised, meaning that a confidential reference code will be used instead of your personal identifiable information. This code alone does not allow you to be directly identified and will only be used for the scientific processing of your data. Only a limited number of authorised members of the clinical research team can access the data. At no time will a participant’s identity appear in a document intended for the public or other institutions. The LCSB also applies the principle of data segregation, i.e., identification data and research data are stored on different secure servers to minimise the potential risks of re-identification.
Your data may also become available for future studies in anonymised form. The samples and data collected during the study will only be used for research projects that have received formal approval from the National Research Ethics Committee (CNER) and the Ministry of Health. The data recipients will not have access to information that allows your identity to be associated with these samples and data.
