New research shows that the number of people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) is rapidly growing. It is my passion to fight against this and make sure that, in the meantime, people with PD receive the best care possible. Parkinson’s disease is one of the most complex chronic diseases and it calls for personalised multidisciplinary care. As a neurologist, I am always looking for new ways to improve care for people with Parkinson’s disease and have an impact on their lives. To me, it is natural that healthcare cannot be improved without giving patients an active role in what I see as ‘participatory health’. The spirit and involvement of people with Parkinson’s amaze me every day. They are willing to do whatever they can to help research, innovation and improve healthcare. I hope we can all join this fight against Parkinson’s disease.
