Research has shown that postponing medication has no positive effect. To postpone taking medication does not protect again the development of complications of the dopaminergic therapy such as hyperkenisia. Clinical trials have shown that starting medication as early as possible leads to better outcomes in the long run. Thus, there is no advantage to postponing medication and this should be started as soon as the symptoms are affecting daily activities.
