As a speech and language therapist, I've been working with people with Parkinson's disease for 20 years. I became even more involved when I joined ParkinsonNet at its launch in 2018 and I have been a member of the steering committee ever since. I am a firm believer in the benefits that such a care network offers to people living with the disease.
Now that ParkinsonNet has been integrated into the national health system as the first 'réseau de compétences', I am moving into a new role as care management coordinator. We are currently laying the groundwork and recruiting Parkinson's nurses and care managers for each hospital in Luxembourg. They will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day care of people with Parkinson's in the network. I will supervise and coordinate this care management team from the CHL, the coordinating hospital for the whole 'réseau de compétences maladies neurodégénératives'.
Both as a healthcare professional and as the daughter of a person with advanced Parkinson's disease, I'm thrilled with the progress we've made and grateful for the opportunity to use my expertise to ensure that people with the disease in Luxembourg receive the best possible care. We encourage all eligible healthcare professionals to join our network and call on all neurologists to sign up their patients living with Parkinson’s disease today.
