REPHLECS PD Study : Advancing Parkinson’s Care with Wearable Technology
Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is a condition that makes your blood pressure drop suddenly when you stand up. This can cause dizziness, weakness, and other symptoms, making it even harder to manage Parkinson’s disease. Diagnosing OH can be complicated, but wearable sensors could help to see how your body responds to change in posture (i.e. sit to stand, lying to stand)
In our study, the clinical team will help you to wear two devices, the SOMNOtouch and the Empatica EmbracePlus, to monitor heart rate, blood pressure and changes in your body position.
This study will be conducted in two phases and takes around one week altogether:
- Phase 1: screening and baseline asessment at the Parkinson’s Research Clinic
- Phase 2: 7 days of home monitoring, where the participants will wear the Empatica EmbracePlus wristband, undergo daily Schellong tests, and a keep diary.
We are looking for people based in Luxembourg and the Greater Region to join our study, including:
- Healthy adults without neurodegenerative or cardiovascular diseases, cognitive impairments, and who are not pregnant
- People with Parkinson’s who sometimes feel dizzy or lightheaded when standing
- People with Parkinson’s without symptoms of OH
